Selling your home through winter months..keeep it safe and simple

It is cold, snowy and blowing wind, but your home can still look welcoming and attractive in the winter months if you concentrate on two things, simple and safe. Buyers need to see there is an easy way to get to your front door during the winter months, so keep your driveway, sidewalks and any paths to your front door safe by keeping snow and ice away. Any leaves left over from Fall need to be removed as well and check your gutters for leaves, it shows that you as a seller, are constantly maintaining your home and that speaks volumes to buyers.

Also, big blow up Christmas decorations are all enjoyed by kids and kids of all ages, but during the holidays, also keep the exterior of your home tastefully decorated. Something as simple as a door wreath during Christmas, then a simple wreath throughout the winter months shows your attention for detail but don't overdo it.

Remember that in the stark winter, with snow on the ground, the exterior of your home will show up more and any painting and touch up you put off will certainly show, so get out the paint and do some fix up. Haul off any debris or toys or garden equipment that should have been put away earlier as well. This tells potential buyers that you are tidy and makes the interior more of a "gotta see" opportunity.

The basic idea is to get buyers into your home and a simple, safe and tidy home welcomes buyers to take a further look. Some people still judge a book by its cover.

Here's to you!
