I just received a very nice compliment that I will live on for weeks. I will get alot out of this one little compliment that it will continue for a long time to inspire and make me aspire (until I expire). I had a buyer just tell me they appreciated my honesty, openess and business ethic. It wasn't in that many words, but it was encouraging. I try to be open and honest in all my dealings. This is how I want to be treated, so this is how I treat others. You give what you get. You establish the relationship with people. They say if someone treats you bad and it continues, you are teaching them to treat you bad by allowing them to treat you bad.
Just in one short meeting and a couple of phone calls, we had established a level of trust which is so important in this business. Along with communication, this can be an easy job, I don't know why some people make it sound like rocket science. I would have NEVER passed THAT test!
I remember hearing an agent, finding out some information from the buyers that would delay her getting a contract on a building since she was working through a committee and working for the seller. Her comment was "NOW what do I tell my seller". One of the guys on the committee made a statement that I appreciated, he said "tell him the truth." The agent sat there looking like that wasn't the answer she was needing. It was funny to me at the time.....as she didn't want to tell him the truth because it meant that the contract signing would be delayed, yet again. Not sure how many problems she was having on that sale, but it didn't matter...
fabricating, embellishing and working all around the truth is not called for in this business. It is our responsibility and duty to keep our clients informed at all times during the transaction. Not to withhold information.
Treat others the way you want to be treated. Develop a level of trust.
